ITOT Switch Characterization – Lucid Lab

Doing some switch characterization tests in the lab. Glad we starting making magnets over stickers. Helps with naming devices and keeping track as we go through the logs.

I know it’s not in fashion, but a couple of our clients rely pretty heavy on some flavor of spanning tree in their facilities.

With the Stratix 5700’s getting replaced with the 5200’s, we were looking to get some real-world convergence times and hopefully shake out any weirdness before putting a couple of these into a mixed environment.

Turns out, pretty good. In the limited testing we did, less that 1 second seemed to be the nominal time after a topology change. Good enough for the systems these will be dropped into.

I’m looking forward to all the folk telling me why I’m wrong.

But if you’ve read this far, there is a hidden juvenile joke in the wireshark log. One of the benefits of being president, I get to reserve addresses… 😉
